When being pushed to explain how the commerce clause adequately addresses ObamaCare's individual mandate before a federal appeals panel of judges this is what the spark plug that resides in the acting Soliciter General's brain struggled to come up with.
"If we're going to play that game, I think that game can be played here as well, because after all, the minimum coverage provision only kicks in after people have earned a minimum amount of income," Kaytal said. "So it's a penalty on earning a certain amount of income and self insuring. It's not just on self insuring on its own. So I guess one could say... someone doesn't need to earn that much income. I think both are kind of fanciful and I think get at…"

Wow, what a great idea. I never thought of it that way, but it's so obvious! If you don't want to be on the hook for the governnment goodies all you have to do is strive for mediocrity. Why would Democrats want us to do that?
They say Republicans are for the rich, Democrats are for the poor. If they need more voters, then they have to make more of who they are for.
What a great backdoor solution to destroying leftist ideology once and for all. Their idiotic nonsense could collapse on its own weight because nobody wants to make enough money to actually fund any of it. The best part is they're suggesting it!
Well, I have a better idea. Instead forcing the rest of us to make less money why don't Marxist a-holes who don't want to endure the "penalty" of living in a country where people would rather take care of themselves do us all a favor and "opt out" of America.
The world is a smorgasbord of misery laced poop for them to roll around in, stay the hell out of our living room.Add a comment
Rush Limbaugh spoke this morning of how he'd rather beat liberals on their ideas over opportunistic scandal. He's both right and wrong about this. Through all the jokes that are being cracked there is, in fact, an idea that should be battled over in this scandal. In politics it's actually the most important idea of them all.
The world is going to hell, and so the attention we have been giving Weinergate, I know, seems disproportionate. The left grasps at straws in their defense of him, and the right wants him to stop acting so damn guilty and just admit it already. Seriously, at this point I was less sure about OJ's guilt.
Meanwhile, blogs like The Moderate Voice think the only apology Weiner owes for this mess is to his wife alone.
Too many of us still don't get that CHARACTER MATTERS! It matters that Anthony Weiner took a roll of dimes, stuffed it in his boxer briefs, and tweeeted it to a college girl, he has supposedly never met, clear across the country....why does this matter?
BECAUSE the world IS going to HELL, AND WE NEED LEADERS WHO CAN NAVIGATE US OUT OF IT....Therefore CHARACTER MATTERS!!!
(From The Moderate Voice) Weiner's credibility hangs in that balance, as does his reputation, but neither means he can't do his job...
Republican DB Christopher Lee resigned for taking us to his own private gun show. No conservative had that guy's back, because CHARACTER MATTERS. Yeah, we can see his face, and the only thing higher than the certainty it's him is the tax rate liberals wish they could impose. So there is no way his career could avoid being KIA.
Twelve years after Newt Gingrich committed marital strike two, liberals and conservatives alike say that alone disqualifies him from ever receiving their vote for president.
This is why conservatives almost never defend each other when they step into their own personal Weinergate. CHARACTER MATTERS.
What we're getting from Weiner and his liberal namesakes in the media is oh so much worse. While he's playing word games, or neither confirming nor denying that picture is him, or being unsure it's not him (HE DOESN'T FREAKING KNOW?!?), the liberal blogosphere is feverishly trying to exonerate a man who himself, at the time of this writing, refuses to unequivocally proclaim his innocence.
Anthony showed us the beef....but where is the left's CHARACTER?!? Mr. Magoo would have an easier time finding Waldo buried under a pile of American flags....
Being an elected official is a privilege. Ostensibly, it is bestowed upon people who have earned, and deserve to be trusted with, the power to handle some of the most challenging problems that face the country/state/municipality they have been charged to uphold and defend. Their existing on a higher moral plane isn't something that sounds like a nice idea, it is expected. In reality, it should be demanded regardless of whether you've even proven your worth. Period.
A minimum standard of measurement for character should be the person's family. If Anthony Weiner can't be trustworthy to his own wife, why the hell should anyone trust him with their taxes? Or national security? Or not inducing vomit all over my smart phone?
How can anyone act with unimpeachable character in the interests of the public when they can't even do the same for the people they say they love?Add a comment
This - is - AWESOME!
The description of this video on YouTube is as follows: Anthony Weiner tweets a bulge to a college student. Hitler is pissed because he wanted the girl.

"You know, I can't say with certitude. My system was hacked. Pictures can be manipulated, pictures can be dropped in and inserted."

10. No way that's me...the underwear isn't loose enough.
9. Two magic words started this whole mess...."prove it."
8. This obsession with whether or not it's me in that picture is a complete distraction from the important issues, like it's attractiveness.
7. I cannot speak on this matter any further pending an investigation into whether or not Playgirl wants to see more.
6. If the picture was scratch and sniff, and smelled like Life-Savers, then you'd have me.
5. To all you right-wingers who think that bulge is mine...flattery will get you nowhere.
4. Whuteva, some gots hoes in different area codes, and I gots hags with different Twitter hashtags.
3. When I say you're an ass, you're an ass. I'm a Weiner...and I KNOW ASS when it's right in front of me.
2. I find it amazingly sexist that nobody is concerned about the 21 year old college boys I follow.

About 7 years ago met a Russian girl years ago who said she would definitely register Republican when she got her citizenship, because the rhetoric of the Democrats sounds too much like what she heard growing up under communism.
Turns out people like her are becoming less the exception.
“If the immigrants understood what was happening in America there would be a revolt against those politicians,” said (Hispanic Tea Party member Tito) Muñoz, who became a citizen in 2008. “Obama’s talking one way and doing another and the Hispanics do not know about that hanky-panky....Why do immigrants leave their country? Because they don’t have opportunity and they don’t have freedom, because politicians control everything,” he said. “We come to America and we are going to have the same crap? Then we might as well go back there.”

My father is an immigrant and very conservative, but he came from Europe, so he just self-loather...Like a Jewish Democrat, but with less mashugana.
I honestly don't know how the Democrats fool any minority/immigrant group into voting for them. It's like buying a car with 3 wheels and then being told all cars come that way. Do they own some magic magnet that sucks intelligence out of people's heads before of the soundwaves in their voice reaches their brains?
That would be pretty awesome if something like that existed. It exists...
That was Debbie Wasserman Schultz, and she is currently the pied piper of the DNC. I don't know if there is a test for mental fitness before taking the job of chairman of the horde, but she just passed it. I'm sure legal immigrants would be tickled pink by her views on the illegal ones.
Between her and the guy who thinks islands capsize it's a wonder any American, much less immigrants, would want to vote Democrat.
I'm telling you people...we've got to find that magnet! It's either that, or we have to figure out a better way to demagnetize welfare.Add a comment
Did you hear about the invented accusations against Anthony Weiner? Liberals, the side of American politics that have brought you crazed delusions about George W. Bush's maniacal attempts to follow in Hitler's footsteps when he wasn't too busy covering his tracks on 9-11, have spoken on #weinergate and it-is-a-hoax.
As always, conservatives, like a global warming rally that could be canceled by a spring time snowfall, are the ones who refuse to live in reality.
Yet, the sunlight shining on this Dracula comes from DaTechGuy has made a lot of fantastic points of reality on this matter, but one in particular really is the show stopper...
(Weiner) has over 45K followers (45737 to be exact) I’m not one of them. He also follows only 194 people.
Until 48 hours ago one of those people was Genette Nicole Cordova tweetname @Gennette Noble the young lady who is at the center of this interesting event.

How Weiner doesn't wave the white flag at the immutable fact that as a national public figure, who knows MANY important people, makes the very same girl who received a picture of him stuffing a roll of coins in his tighties a member of a very small group of people he thought was worth following. This is important, because it allows them to send each other private tweets nobody else can see, AKA the makings of a right-wing hoax.
This shows how truly stupid liberals think the public is. They can't help it. They talk to us and argue with us like we're dumb zombies because that is the absolute maximum capacity of their own intellect. As a Twitter user myself, I know this is a big fat digital blue dress. So from this point on only one of two things can happen:
The left's reaction to this has been interesting. Frankly, the whole thing just feels like a straight-to-video sequel of when "Billy Met Monica." It is just sex, right? So why don't they just put the smoking gun away and upgrade that old 90's mantra of theirs to "it's just sexting?"
Something like that does nothing to impeach the character he needs for the public to be assured he deserves their trust. After all, he didn't betray his constituents, just a bunch of sacred vows he promised to his wife. The bond between him and his many anonymous constituents will always be more unbreakable than his wedding ring next to the buzzsaw of infidelity.Add a comment
Using the same modern techonology that runs the TSA's naked scanners this "before and after" shows the silver lining for Democrats in the tawdry Weinergate story...
When seeking his wife's forgiveness he can be honest, probably for the first time in his life, and say that he's a changed man.Add a comment
You can hear a pin drop...
I Hate the Media has a great post of stories of the exceptionalism of American troops. Below is my favorite...
Robert Whiting, an elderly gentleman of 83, arrived in Paris by plane. At French Customs, he took a few minutes to locate his passport in his carry on.
“You have been to France before, monsieur?” the customs officer asked sarcastically.
Mr. Whiting admitted that he had been to France previously.
“Then you should know enough to have your passport ready.”
The American said, “The last time I was here, I didn’t have to show it.”
“Impossible. Americans always have to show their passports upon arrival in France!”
The American senior gave the Frenchman a long hard look. Then he quietly explained, ”Well, when I came ashore at Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944 to help liberate this country, I couldn’t find a single Frenchmen to show a passport to.”
You could have heard a pin drop.
