Three great quotes from the late Shirley Temple

{fsubscribe}

They sure don't make 'em like they used to.

Part of a series of nine (I picked out the ones I liked best), see them all at The Meta Picture

On a side note, my daughter has really curly hair like Temple’s was, and my wife and I get comments from people all the time that she reminds them of Temple. The most striking comments come from young people who you’d think would regard Temple as ancient history. With all of the pop culture history that has come since Temple's time young people STILL think about and remember her.

THAT is an enduring legacy!

This funny pro-bullying joke actually does have a point...

{fsubscribe}

I've actually thought about this in a more serious way than this graphic presents. While I understand why anti-bullying campaigns have been springing up I'm noticing that like with all the other "isms" out there people are starting to misuse the term in the same way the left uses "racism" to squelch discussion they don't like.

Only yesterday I was part of a Facebook thread about politics where a liberal friend whipped out the "B" word against a conservative friend in reaction to him saying something the liberal friend didn't like.

My conservative friend was displaying a different "B" word...backbone. Yet rather than take on the merits of what he was saying the liberal friend rested their case on his being a "bully" and then washed their hands of the discussion.

I've been noticing it in political discussions on TV a lot more too, I could be wrong, but the pendulum has only begun to swing, so I think we'll see A LOT more of this tactic before it gets better.

As with everything else with good intentions I'm not sure (speaking from my own experiences) that the anti-bullying movement is doing kids any favors. Life in the real world can be a big kick in the nuts sometimes, the kids who learn it early have a good head start on figuring that out.

Milton Friedman NAILS it on why liberals never learn from their mistakes

Obamacare is only the latest example, name any expansive and intrusive government program from the New Deal on and the root motivation behind it is this revelation from Friedman...

From Heritage.

Common Core says Lincoln's religion was "liberal," and here's why we should let it slide...

It's hard to argue with this.

I saw this tweet and decided to come up with a slightly spruced up version because the point was so freakin' brilliant and thought it should be more eye-catching. See the Fox News report behind this meme here.

I can't possibly be the only one who thought this about the U.S. Olympic teams uniform...

2012 was a swing an a miss...this time around it was a swing, miss, and then the freakin' bat slipped out of the designers hands...

It's the Olympics, not an ugly Christmas sweater contest.

5 powerful arguments for creation and 5 ridiculous comments from evolutionists

{fsubscribe}

So an apparently epic creation/evolution debate between Bill Nye and Ken Ham took place recently. I haven't seen it yet, but it's definitely on my to do list. As a Christian who believes in God I don't reject evolution outright, but I totally reject the evolutionists dismissal of the creation/intelligent design crowd. I believe the creationist views and arguments are just as valid (if not more so) than evolution in that at least the creationist side is honest about the bottom line being that their arguments and beliefs are rooted in faith. Both sides operate on faith, but to me it seems that the evolution side tries to pretend it's not.

So, at this event people were asked to write a message to those on their opposing side and there were some really good ones. I picked out the five arguments I liked best for creation and the five most ridiculous bits of snark from the evolution side.

Do I have my bias, sure, but you can see all 44 messages here. It's clear that as a whole one side should definitely be taken more seriously than the other.
