Keeping Faith

I don't talk about or incorporate enough faith (Christian faith specifically) in my blog entries...probably because I'm trying to poke fun and use humor, which always comes at the expense of someone or something, and there isn't a lot of room for humor in the teaching of Jesus because he is literally talking about life and death...not very funny subject matter. Mel Gibson tried to tackle that glass ceiling a few years ago and in my humble opinion he failed miserably.

I want to though! I don't have my abilities without Him, I don't have ANYTHING without Him.

Granted, I'm no preacher...I couldn't even convince water to be wet. I did try once to convince Donald Trump to do a combover, but I don't know how that ended up working out....but in any case it wouldn't hurt trying give Him a little shout out once in a while.

Its clear that conservatism is on the ropes in our culture because we are proceeding to participate in public discourse without Him. No amount of debating on talk radio or online forums, or confrontation of protesters is ever going to change the mind of someone who thinks gay marriage is the same as what marriage has been since man started recognizing the difference between shit and shinola (shinola has a pretty bad smell to it), and that abortion is about privacy rights and not about life. In fact the polarization we are currently experiencing today in the world isn't drawn on political lines, but religious and moral ones.

That has been the problem, we think we need to change minds when we really need to change hearts.

And its not us changing their hearts, He is!

...the right direction leads not only to peace but to knowledge. When a man is getting better he understands more and more clearly the evil that is still left in him. When a man is getting worse he understands his own badness less and less. A moderately bad man knows he is not very good: a thoroughly bad man thinks he is all right.

-C.S. Lewis, Mere Christianity

The ONLY way to win the culture war we find ourselves in right now (assuming we are even meant to win it) is to bring God back to the pop culture and public conscience.

So what do we do about this Christians? 'Cuz TBN and the 700 Club ain't making it happen!

What do we do?

I shared this post with a friend of mine (I don't want to say who explicitly, but their name rhymes with Raback Jomama), and it turns out "The Passion of the Christ" was in fact hilarious, and apparently, the humor is above my "paygrade".
