Why is Obama "The Comeback Kid?"

Even Charles Krauthammer is going there with this notion that Obama has completely landed back on his feet...I blame Bill Clinton.

The 2010 'Lie' of the Year Goes To...

In the spring of 2009, a Republican strategist settled on a brilliant and powerful attack line for President Barack Obama's ambitious plan to overhaul America's health insurance system. Frank Luntz, a consultant famous for his phraseology, urged GOP leaders to call it a "government takeover."

"Takeovers are like coups," Luntz wrote in a 28-page memo. "They both lead to dictators and a loss of freedom."

The line stuck. By the time the health care bill was headed toward passage in early 2010, Obama and congressional Democrats had sanded down their program, dropping the "public option" concept that was derided as too much government intrusion. The law passed in March, with new regulations, but no government-run plan....

By selecting "government takeover' as Lie of the Year, PolitiFact is not making a judgment on whether the health care law is good policy.

The phrase is simply not true.

Read the rest at PolitiFact.

Lie of the year? If there was a kid who failed kindergarten, and the school insisted that he be passed on to the next grade over the teachers protests that he never learned the basics, and therefore will be on the path to being illiterate as an adult, would that school say the teacher is telling the "lie of the year" because the child is not yet the grown-up idiot his teacher promises he'll be?

How do I know this isn't the lie of the year?

Well, I can start with Bawney up there...

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their own conscience."
-C.S. Lewis-

...and I can end with the fact that mankind wasn't born yesterday.

Do We Need a Straight Jacket Caucus?

Just 23% of Likely U.S. Voters now say the country is heading in the right direction, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey taken the week ending Sunday, December 12. Down three points from last week, it's the most pessimistic finding since January 2009.

I don't mean to be getting crazy with technical terms here, but who are these "looney tunes" who...

Are waiting with bated breath for directives from the government on what to eat so the good stuff can be reserved for them...

Want to be forced to use lightbulbs that look like they were designed by artists inspired by Helen Thomas...

Don't feel the only appropriate place to erect a statue memorializing Pelosi as the first female Speaker would be next to a pidgeon farm...

Think the government could eventually save money by mandating you cough when they grab your testicles by merging ObamaCare with the TSA...

Believe the economy is just ROCKIN' relative to not having one at all...

Are only frustrated when they wake up in the morning and they find the economy is barely treading water because the people aren't being taxed enough?

I can't believe this report doesn't start with "An astounding 23% of likely U.S. voters now say the country is heading in the right direction..." If this poll came out AFTER Harry Reid took back that monstrous omnibus bill I could begin to try understanding why this number is so high.

By the way where did the extra 10 points come from?

I think I got my answer on the 23% here.

Do 'Progressives' Have An Intelligence Allergy?

This is actually worse than Liam Neeson's ridiculous take on his role in the Chronicles of Narnia.

I'm not going to get into what a buffoon Matthews is, I'll let Neil Cavuto do it for me.

I've been writing/blogging and engaged in political activities off and on for about 7 years now. Part of the job is to know and understand what the other side thinks. I've had a gut feeling about the left, which has grown ever stronger since starting The Looking Spoon, that their thinking is so much more than a different point of view about the world. It is, at least to me, actually characteristically unintellectual at its core in the nicest sense, and flat out dishonest in its worst sense.

This problem is compounded by the fact that for decades the left has asserted itself as the smartest people in the room, and those who constantly trumpet their own "virtue" are found, by some sort of cosmic law, to almost always be farthest from the truth on the matter.

Either Richard Wolffe is a liar who is trying to make Sarah Palin look stupid by boiling C.S. Lewis down to a mere author of childrens' books, or his profound ignorance of Lewis's work is something that makes him supremely qualified to be a commentator on MSNBC.

Whichever it may be, what he said was especially offensive to me because "Mere Christianity" was gifted to me 5 years ago, as an ADULT, and reading it saved my Life.

I'm sorry if it's not as intellectually stimulating as chanting "yes we can" for his own messiah, but Lewis's writings have brought more people to God, and has done so more effectively, than Obama could've ever brought any voter in 2008 to actually know him.

This of course assumes Obama WANTED voters to know him in the first place. Blind people are more informed about color than a Democrat with a ballot can ever be about voting.

To hear a fool like Wolffe deride Lewis's brilliance as something to be reserved for kids only is beyond ridiculous, and all it does is further cement in my mind that "progressive thinkers" are allergic to anything that resembles real intelligent thought.
