Former President Jimmy Carter planned to meet with President Obama on Tuesday, White House press secretary Robert Gibbs confirmed.
Carter had planned to meet with the White House’s national security adviser, Tom Donilon. Obama then asked Carter if he would stop by for a meeting, Gibbs told reporters on Tuesday.
Gibbs wouldn’t say if Carter’s visit was related to North Korea.
“That is all I know, and I will try to find more,” Gibbs said before leaving the briefing room.
What, are we at Defcon 0 and all the real leaders were busy washing their hair?
Obama must be desperate if he wants to consult with Jimmy Carter on dealing with North Korea (or anything). Maybe if they can rub their Nobel Peace Prizes together a genie will pop out and solve their problems:
: Hello gentlemen! I am the Peace Genie
: Oh heck, now we've done it.
: Why does he look like Ronald Reagan?
: Because I'm the Peace Genie
: More like a crazy magic warmongering no talent-
: Say what sissy?
: Nothing sir! Its not 1980, there's no place like '76, there's no place like '76
: Are you crying Jimmy?
: He'll get over it, how can I serve you today?
:Do you guys want the wish you're entitled to?
: I thought genies give three wishes
:Only liberal genies do that, it usually takes a couple of tries before they get it right.
:Are you trying to tell me magic liberals are screw ups? I find that hard to believe.
: LOOK! Do you want your wish of a lifetime or what?
: I do I do! Hot damn let me get my teleprompter!
: *SOB* I wish I could've won that second term
:Oh boy...a deals a deal
: You're STILL here?
: Ooookay, I'm back, what should we wish for? I have needed a better golf handicap for a while now or I could just ask for a better overall swing and - where did that Soviet flag come from?
: You can thank your boy over there.
: A vodka cabinet?!? Where's my MLK bust? Jimmy, what did you do?
: He wished to finish what he started
: What about my golf swing?!?
:WHAT ABOUT NORTH KOREA?
: Huh? Oooooooooh, you mean East Soviet China...

I have to be honest. I've found most of the stories coming out of WikiLeaks to be yawners. Here's Talking Points Memo's Top 5 Most Shocking Things About The Wikileaks
Nearly every country in the Middle East wants us to attack Iran.
State Department officials ordered U.S. diplomats to spy on their foreign and UN counterparts.
North Korea supplied Iran with long-range missiles.
Iran used the auspices of the Red Crescent to smuggle spies and weapons into war zones
U.S. foreign policy relies heavily on blog-ready gossip items.
Lets be honest now, is anyone shocked by any of these items? This is really the worst of it? Didn't we pretty much know all of this stuff already?
I know the government is "embarrassed" by this, but I really think they don't care, because as a world super power wouldn't we be expected to know everything? How else are we supposed to find juicy details about these people? Wait for them to tweet about it?
I think it would be more embarrassing for the world to find out we weren't spying on them....they might even be feel a little insulted to think they weren't worth our time.
If Julian ASSange wants to impress me then the future drips he's promising better have something along the lines of the following:
Nearly every country in the Middle East wants us to attack their sand.
State Department officials ordered that U.S. diplomats can only spy on their foreign and UN counterparts using Facebook.
North Korea supplied Iran with stockpiles of magic markers, diamonds, and Cheerios.
Iran used the auspices of the Red Crescent to smuggle Playboy magazine and pocket U.S. Constitutions into war zones
U.S. foreign policy relies heavily on competence and honest self-reflection.
In all seriousness, if I had a choice I obviously wouldn't have wanted these leaks to take place. World leaders should be able to candidly discuss extremely sensitive issues and know some blabbermouth with small man syndrome and a laptop wont out them.
In the end, to me, it's not the release of the information itself that should give us pause, but the fact the government, who got a computer worm to disable an Iranian nuclear facility, couldn't prevent WikiLeaks from doing its thing.
I sort of begs the question, of how badly they wanted it stopped in the first place...Add a comment

From the liberal blog ironically named Crooks and Liars:
Not that this will matter to the congressional Republicans, whose agenda is not actually improving the economy nor listening to economists, the wealthiest 2%, or any other American, come to that. But the country's wealthiest men, Warren Buffett and Bill Gates, dismiss the calls of Republicans to extend the Bush tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% of Americans and say that the wealthy SHOULD pay more taxes.
Warren Buffett, Chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway, said that the rich should be paying more taxes and that the Bush-era tax cuts for the wealthy should be left to expire at the end of December.
"If anything, taxes for the lower and middle class and maybe even the upper middle class should even probably be cut further," Buffett said. "But I think that people at the high end -- people like myself -- should be paying a lot more in taxes. We have it better than we've ever had it."
The billionaire brushed aside Republican arguments that letting tax cuts expire for the wealthy would hurt economic growth.
"They say you have to keep those tax cuts, even on the very wealthy, because that is what energizes business and capitalism," anchor Amanpour said.
"The rich are always going to say that, you know, just give us more money and we'll go out and spend more and then it will all trickle down to the rest of you. But that has not worked the last 10 years, and I hope the American public is catching on," Buffett explained.
Read the rest here
Let me get this straight, billionaires feel like they can spare a few million more bucks via an increase in their tax rate and they want to take people making $250,000 with them? Brilliant.
Generally speaking, someone making a billion dollars will see their tax bill rise by $40 million. Their $250,000 counterpart will see a rise of $7,500.
At some point one does have so much money that the only way it can possibly be spent is by finding more creative ways to use it, such as stufifng for pillows, or toilet paper, or donating it to a charity that provides kindling for the fireplaces of rich people.
The point is someone with $40 million less of a billion dollars can STILL get everything they need and everything they don't need too, but a $7,500 hit to a family making $250,000 has a major impact on financial planning and the ability to save and pay for major life issues ranging from education to retirement.
To lump the two together like Crooks and Liars does (enabled by money bubbleheads like Buffett) shows an intellectual bankruptcy even Joe Biden could bail out.
If Buffet wants to be so cavalier about having an additional $40 million to burn why doesn't he give it to more philanthropy?
Why not eliminate the welfare middle man and just bring 160 homeless families up to his tax bracket?
Or better yet, if HE thinks HE can spare the money for higher taxes then HE can pay a higher rate while the rest of us can stay at the current one. Nobody is stopping him from cutting THAT check.
Maybe he wants the force of law because he doesn't have the intestinal fortitude to pay that much more voluntarily. Fine, I call on the new GOP congress to enact the new tax bracket for anyone who thinks the government is shortchanging itself when it comes to having their money confiscated.
We'll call it the PB & J Tax. I've already figured out the perfect ad for it...

I rarely do stuff like this because I don't want it to detract from the main goal of this blog, which is to present the goings on of today in a way that is humorous and fun, but this has my blood boiling. I can't even imagine how I would feel if the TSA did this to my wife (we are expecting a little girl of our own in 3 months).
I know they have a very boring job, but you'll see in the video how these fat slobs just can't help themselves but oppress this poor woman. The most disgusting thing about all of this is this government sanctioned harassment stems from terrorist attacks done in the name of Islam, perpetrated by MEN whose M.O. could not be further from who this woman is.
I plan on sharing this, starting with everyone who sees this post. I'll also be sending this to my congressman and senators. This is nuts, its out of control, and it CANNOT stand.

I didn't note Sarah Palin's verbal screw-up when she called South Korea North Korea in an interview with Glenn Beck. Why? Because in context it seemed like a simple verbal slip-up, the kind everyone makes from time to time. Yes, when you listen to the whole thing, there's a weird, nervous-laughter defensiveness about her recognition that she got something wrong, but she gets the benefit of the doubt in my book.
What's really fascinating is her response. It's a merciless, grammar-free, sneering compilation of Obama verbal gaffes. It's like a blog-post from some Malkin clone:My fellow Americans in all 57 states, the time has changed for come. With our country founded more than 20 centuries ago, we have much to celebrate – from the FBI’s 100 days to the reforms that bring greater inefficiencies to our health care system. We know that countries like Europe are willing to stand with us in our fight to halt the rise of privacy, and Israel is a strong friend of Israel’s. And let’s face it, everybody knows that it makes no sense that you send a kid to the emergency room for a treatable illness like asthma and they end up taking up a hospital bed. It costs, when, if you, they just gave, you gave them treatment early, and they got some treatment, and ah, a breathalyzer, or an inhalator. I mean, not a breathalyzer, ah, I don’t know what the term is in Austrian for that…
This may be a smart-ass retort; it may be useful innoculation against a potentially damaging gaffe; it may even be a well-researched blog-post, but what it isn't is anything approaching the kind of character we expect in a president. A simple respect for the office she seeks would not reflect itself in these increasingly callow, sarcastic, cheap jibes at a sitting president. But sadly, like so many now purporting to represent conservatism, there is, behind the faux awe before the constitution, a contempt for the restraint and dignity a polity's institutions require from its leaders.
There is no maturity here; no self-reflection; no capacity even to think how to appeal to the half of Americans who are already so appalled by her trashy behavior and cheap publicity stunts. There is a meanness, a disrespect, a vicious partisanship that, if allowed to gain more power, would split this country more deeply and more rancorously than at any time in recent years. And that's saying something.
The game never ends for these idiots does it? The echo chamber in Andy's own brainless head is clearly preventing him from realizing this CLEARLY isn't about Barack Obama. This is about the news media's treatment of her.
All of the gaffes she outlines in her post were said by Obama and received not one iota from attention from the same ignorant bastards who attack her with the same kind of glee Kim Jong un probably had when ordered the North Korean attack on the North....I mean South.....uh oh :-(
She's not allowed to point that unbelievable and shameful hypocrisy out? She's being immature?
Do these news monkeys think THEY are the adults in the poo flung mess THEY created? Are high school students ghost writing for these fools or what?Add a comment
Everyone knows about Sarah Palin's "North Korea allies" gaffe but if you haven't heard it you can check it out here.
I'm not interested in entering the unbelievably ridiculous fray that is going on with this. Except I will say that you lefties damn well know she meant South Korea, she said "North" a number of times before that (in the correct context) and when it came time to talk about South Korea she still had North on the brain. We all have done this before, and to pretend she didn't know the difference...
...is about as childish as it gets. You should really knock it off, because on its face thinking people wont ever believe your take on this.
It's not like she believed there was television in the 1920's when FDR was president like Vice President History Major up there.
That said where's the media on all the gaffes liberals make on a regular basis? Including, but not at all limited to:
God Bless America - talk about a violation of the separation of church and state (which is in the constitution if some hippie with magic markers finally got near it long enough to write it in). Don't even get me started on the ignorance behind such a jingoistic statement, as if God would only bless America were he to exist.
The Pledge of Allegiance - Why are you putting your hand over your heart? It better be to make sure there's still nothing there...
We must work to make abortions rare - Oh yeah, that's exactly what Planned Parenthood endorses Democrats and pays its lobbyists to argue for, irrelevance.
Fighting for working families - Nothing shores up your voting base better than making sure those who provide the revenue stream for their handouts are tricked into thinking you care
Peace is patriotic - Why? Because you don't like war? So basically reacting to things we don't like is patriotic? I fast for 3 days so I can make dry heaving noises when I know I'm going to listen to Obama speak...is THAT patriotic?
I oppose Prop 8 AND gay marriage - Except in cases of rape or incest...huh? Wait...time out, nose is bleeding.
That depends on the meaning of "is" - Let help liberals out on this by using it in a sentence....Is you smart enough to be in charge of the health care system?
If you're liberal and you're infuriated by this I want to make something clear. Not ALL liberals think this way, but ONLY liberals think this way.
If you're that exception then you're probably actually conservative...food for thought.

I received this in an email. Snopes says this is real. The last picture is the money shot.
More than speaks for itself...
Random thought: I think all Democrat graves are empty and that's where zombies come from.
A couple of days ago I received a tweet on Twitter from a liberal I didn't know, the whole thing seemed random, but I'm thankful for the message she wanted me to receive.
Thanksgiving celebrates the day native Americans shared the harvest with illegal immigrants.
I don't want to reveal the handle of this microblogging sage, lest a stampede of tweeps rush her like some wise person atop an ant hill. That would be a precarious journey, especially for me, I HATE ants...definitely not thankful for childhood issues.
I will say that part of her Twitter handle shares the name of a certain plastic blond doll employed by Mattel and has proportions that are WAY more realistic than a liberals ability to think clearly about anything.
This tweet really got me thinking though. I mean, we all know that Native American's (NOT Indians) got a REALLY raw deal from European settlers, but not from the pilgrims Squanto helped! That Thanksgiving was pretty hunky dory. Yeah, hunky dory had a short shelf life, but so did the Obama luster and we'll have to live with that forever in the history books. So don't discount the good, however temporary, that sprang from the first ever Thanksgiving.
I then started to wonder how Native Americans and Pilgrims fit into the equasion of what Thanksgiving is today. Even though it started with that group, they were giving thanks for surviving the winter in an unfamiliar land without dying. By contrast, today we (hopefully) observe this day as a chance to reflect on being thankful for living in the most prosperous and abundant land that God has ever granted his children.
Everything we have and do makes our cup overflow, and nothing proves this to be more true than the abundance of time the poorest people in America have to say the dumbest things on things like Twitter with their cell phones when poor people in other countries spend every waking hour trying to find water they can drink without it killing them.
And then I thought, well, if doll brains wants to trip on her own guilt over what happened to the Native Americans in the years after the first Thanksgiving she is more than welcome to not buy a turkey, or any of the other ingredients needed to make a balanced turkey day meal, and just blow the money she would've spent on the nickle slots at her local Indian casino (now we can call them Indians, we get what we pay for).
Lastly, I couldn't get over this notion the pilgrims could be considered illegal immigrants. I think that it was meant to inspire guilt over public disapproval of illegal immigrants in the country today. After all, they're just here to enjoy a spread of the finest fixings our government can provide: welfare, free hospital visits, education, employment without verification, and this delicious meal is all tied together with a big HUGE helping of
taxpayer money turkey.
Just like the pilgrims.
All of that stuff swirled in my head, and I just had to respond to this tweet. Then it came to me...
Which immigration laws were broken?
...I'm still waiting for doll brains's response.
I'm thankful that ignorance really is bliss in America. I'm even more thankful that can it be swatted down so easily and publicly, for the edification of others, through the exchange of speech, ideas and technology that only comes with American freedom, a freedom that no other country can truly boast.
I'm also thankful that it can be done in 140 characters or less.Add a comment
